1. Introduction

Welcome to Regen. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding the collection, use, and sharing of your personal information. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide to Us

• Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and related identifiers. If you choose Sign in with Apple, Apple may share your name and a private relay email address with us.
• Onboarding Answers: During onboarding you may tell us your age, education level, the university you attend (if any), your learning goal, and your approximate daily phone usage. These are used to personalize your experience.
• Study Content: We collect content you create or import to generate flashcards, including text prompts, uploaded files (such as PDFs), lecture recordings, and YouTube URLs you provide. We store the generated decks, cards, and your answers.
• Chat Messages: When you use the in-card "Chat with AI" feature, we store the messages you send and the assistant's replies so the conversation can continue across sessions.

Information We Collect Automatically

• Device Information: We collect information about your mobile device, including device model, operating system version, and similar technical identifiers.
• Usage Information: We collect information about how you use the App: features used, screens viewed, study sessions, streak activity, and the timing, frequency, and duration of these activities.
• Session Recordings: We use PostHog's session replay to record how you navigate within the App (taps, the screens you visit, and the flow between them) so we can find and fix usability problems. These recordings mask on-screen text and images by default, so the content of your answers, study material, and personal details is not captured. We do not use IP-based location: location enrichment is disabled, so we do not collect your location.
• Subscription Information: When you purchase a subscription, our subscription provider (RevenueCat) shares your subscription status, product identifier, and renewal/expiration details with us so we can grant access to paid features. We do not receive your payment card details. Those are handled by Apple.
• AI Usage Metadata: For each AI-generated deck, we log the model used, token counts, and cost so we can enforce fair-use limits and detect abuse.

What We Do Not Collect

Regen does not collect your location, contacts, photos, messages, or browsing history. The App uses Apple's Screen Time ("Family Controls") framework to block and unlock the apps you choose. The list of apps you block is processed on your device by iOS. We do not receive the names or identifiers of those apps.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide, maintain, and improve the App
• To generate personalized flashcards and study content
• To track your streaks, progress, and subscription status
• To personalize your experience
• To communicate with you, including responding to support requests
• To analyze how the App is used so we can improve it
• To enforce our Terms of Service and prevent abuse
• To comply with legal obligations

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information with the following categories of third parties so the App can function:

• Supabase hosts our database and handles authentication. Your account, onboarding answers, decks, chat messages, and streak data are stored here.
• OpenAI and Anthropic process the text, files, lecture audio, YouTube transcripts, and chat messages you submit, in order to generate flashcards and answer your follow-up questions. This content is processed under each provider's respective terms.
• RevenueCat manages subscription entitlements and verifies your purchases with Apple.
• Superwall renders our paywall and reports paywall interaction events.
• PostHog provides product analytics and session replay. We use it to understand how features are used, diagnose usability issues, and improve the App. On-screen text and images are masked in session recordings, and IP-based location enrichment is disabled.
• Apple handles authentication (if you use Sign in with Apple) and payment processing for subscriptions.

We may also disclose your information (i) when required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; (ii) in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of all or part of our business; or (iii) with your consent.

5. Your Rights and Choices

• Access, Correction, and Deletion: You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by emailing us at hello@venturous.studio. You can also delete your account from within the App, which removes your account and associated data from our database.
• Screen Time Permission: You can revoke Regen's Screen Time access at any time in iOS Settings › Screen Time.
• Opt-Out of Communications: You can opt out of promotional communications by following the instructions in those communications.

6. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to help protect your information from loss, theft, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App. We also retain and use your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account, we delete your associated data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to keep it for legal or audit purposes.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information.

9. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to, and maintained on, computers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction. Our service providers (including Supabase, OpenAI, Anthropic, RevenueCat, Superwall, and PostHog) may process data in the United States and other countries.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" above. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.

For Residents of the European Economic Area (EEA) and the United Kingdom (UK)

If you are a resident of the EEA or the UK, you have certain data protection rights, including the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. We process your personal data in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

For Residents of California

If you are a California resident, you have certain rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of its sale. We do not sell your personal information. We process your personal data in compliance with the CCPA.
